Che Guevara

It's 7 metres tall and overlooks the town of La Cumbré. We needed the exercise plus I originally thought it might be the path to a geocache. The view of La Cumbré and the countryside from the path to the statue. The Fall colours were starting to appear. On the pathway up to the statue there were quite a few of these family memorials. At the bottom of the hill we spotted this nest in a tree. Don't know if it was parakeet or not, I kind of doubt it as it was there all by itself. It actually looks a bit precarious the way it's sitting there, they must not get many strong winds. And then there was this guy patiently waiting for a bus I guess. There was a small church there as well. I think it was associated with a convent or something that was nearby. I guess the problem is international and even in the small towns. We met this fellow once before in the town in Italy that is named after him. Any guesses? This little old 800 Fiat looked as though it had just been driven out of the showroom. While I was busy taking pictures of the little Fiat this artesano was busy trying to sell his nuts to E. We bought some and I cracked them as a form of therapy. There were really good. We gave him a small Canada pin and as we were backing out he came running back out and gave E a necklace in exchange. We encountered that kind of gift exchange very common here.. Different country similar problems - uhhh, but it's almost winter down here. I don't think we'll see readings that high very often in November in BC. And Smokey the Bear has a challenger. Then we made an interesting little excursion to the Che Guevara Museum. Apparently a working mock-up of the original kitchen in his parents' house. As a family man. He was quite a traveller and not just by motorcycle ... ... although there was a movie ... He had an air of confidence about him. Can't help but wonder how things would be different in Argentina had he been active here. There isn't a lot of popular support for the govt. right now. One of his letters to Castro. (The original was hand-written.) Sorry about the reflection, it was the light bulb in the ceiling. More info about Che Guevara here. Just an old house that was across the street from the museum.
