BRAZIL - Day Four of Four-day Trip

Back to Brazil Index Page

This is the ????? at the Botanical Gardens in Curitiba. My apologies if the text descriptions are sub-standard, I ended up with the cold of all colds, so am a bit woozier than normal. Kind of a nice approach. It was on a Sunday so there were quite a few families out enjoying the park and the sunshine. A portion of Curitiba in the background. Neat clouds, eh And this little guy is going to become - one day - a nice big ripe pineapple. And this one, I think has already become whatever it is. I just thought it was rather neat the way that leaf grows out of the bud. Remember the pinha tree, the ones that look like a big bird nest at the top. This is a section through one. Wouldn't it make a gorgeous coffee table? These are the nuts from the pinha tree. Apparently edible after roasting but rather chewy. And that's the tree again. Rather neat little garden shade areas if you happen to have a stock of bamboo handy. I don't think they'd be too efficient in keeping out the rain in Vancouver though. Another view of the Curitiba skyline. It's either bath time or cooling off time for a quero-quero. This is a good view of the little feather on their heads. Just as we were leaving this choral group was trying to get set up for a video taping. End of the trip and we're back on the farm with Elaine trying to catch supper! Well, it's a start but sure it isn't going to feed too many people. Hmmm, maybe with some bread and wine ... Solius says; 'You guys are too fussy, it's a good size - for appetizers'. OK, it's time to start thinking about pasta or ..., it's getting dark out. But, our Elaine comes through again!!! What a provider!! Just a little diversion on the way back up the hill as Chris threw in a bunch of bananas for the chickens. Yep, they love bananas. More humming birds ... ... and more humming birds. Actually, if you're interested I've got more pictures, just let me know. Then it's off to the Bunker to fire up the BBQ and the sheesha, with everybody looking on in anticipation of tasting Elaine's fish. And now the 'Pièce de résistance' with Elaine's finger helping you discover which one is the largest fish ever caught anywhere in the world!!.
