BRAZIL - Potpourris and Puppies

Back to Brazil Index Page

Hi everybody, my name is Shar. I've had a really busy day here with my brother Azuth, (you'll meet him in a minute). I'm kinda 'wiped' right now so I'm going back to sleep - hope you enjoy the pictures. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Hi again, I think this is me in the front and my dumb brother behind me. It's really hard to tell with all these damn soap bubbles. Oh yeah, obviously this is me and ... him! trying to budge his way in. Wow, when is he ever going to grow up! Ahhh yes, there's nothing like falling asleep in the warmth of a grandma's bosom to put all your cares at rest. Hey, WOW! do you guys ever smell better after your bathes! Oh, Hi out there. My name's Sorte and yes, I feel extremely Lucky to be living here. Alright, lets see what these little guys are made of. I heard that Rottweillers are supposed to be tough. OK, that was a heck of a workout. But, you notice that I've got the sock! Obviously it worked up a bit of an appetite and now I'm out of food. What kind of a skin-flint joint is this? Whew, it's been one heck of a day. I wonder what my sister is up to now. Same as you Bro! Same as you! I DO NOT snore!!! I DO NOT!!!! And anyway, even if I do, wear your damn earplugs! Thank God there's some peace and quiet around here for a few minutes. At least enough to let a guy get a drink of water. Hi! My name is Victor. I'm the cat of the house - well actually I'm still a kitten. Most of the dogs have already been put in their place, so far the only person around here that I haven't been able to train properly is Lena. She still seems to think she's the boss. Oh well, it's only been a few months , we'll work it out! Take a close look in the mouths of these birds. Each of them has an unripened date in there. This tree is right at the side of the house. Same old story, men do the work and women give directions. Sorry Mythral, you weren't meant to be included as part of the women comment. We're in the process of replacing the screening around the patio area. Ahhh, yes! These are the remains of Ted! Ted was a misnamed hen who turned out to be a very prolific layer but ran into some internal organ problems when the internals became external and she had to be put to 'rest'. I'm pretty sure this is a typical look that cats put on when bird feathers are scattered in the vicinty. Obviously each of them is claiming to have an alibi for the particular time of death. In other words 'Twasn't me!' And then of course, there's always the other side of the coin. What did they do to poor old Ted - Who's going to be next. 'I promise I'll double my output by next week'. OK, back to normal. Once again the humming birds right outside the kitchen window, through which they've been known to fly when the feeder runs out of syrup - just as a friendly reminder. More of them. (I wish I had my other s/w available so I could lighten this up to show the colours better.) Ah, yes, and then the dove that just happened to be passing by and dropped in for a photo op. Yes, they come in all sizes. Obviously this is one of the smaller ones. Ok, now here's an interesting story. We were out at C&K's for dinner, we left after dark and drove home in the rain. It's a 15km trip on a four lane highway with the speed limit at 100km/hr. We got home, parked the car, I went to open the back door to get some stuff out from the back seat and what do I see on the window. Man! Talk about a death defying experience for that poor slug! We talk about 'white knuckle 'trips for humans - what's his called? This is looking back into what I'd call Matinhos Bay. I don't know if that's a proper name or not. The dark spots in the water aren't seals - they're surfers. Same view but a bit farther around. Remember what I said about the beaches going on forever? Taken from the same point of land and once again, those are surfers. And again, obviously they're waiting for the 'Big one'. And then there's these two. (Does that make you feel better Maggie?) I told you I'd get around to people pictures eventually. The weather just hasn't been conducive to finding all the swimmers out in their thongs and bikinis with their 'Brazilans'. As soon as that happens ... Looking farther around the point towards the next small beach town called Caioba. This marker was constructed to commemorate a world class surfer that was from Matinhos and apparently did a lot of training near here. Brazilian graffiti leaves a lot to be desired. We've yet to see any that has any resemblance to art. Like no creativity at all! Very typical of the hillsides in this area. The boardwalk around the point with 3 hungry people heading off for a tasty lunch at a seaside restaurant with a 4th about to join them. No, this isn't the lunch. I just thought I'd add this one to keep Maggie happy and to show what great culinary talents Karen has. That is Lena in the background. She maintains the house, dogs, cat and us while we're here. Just a really great person who doesn't speak any English which really goes well with us not speaking any Portuguese! So we have a lot of laughs!
