BC CARIBOO COUNTRY

WOW! That's a long way down there! All right - let me at 'im!!! Ok, let's get moving. Which way do we go? YES!! Now this is what life is all about!! I'm an ol' cowhand ... Just as the fires were starting (2003) but we didn't know it ... About a half hour later. This is the fire that was in the Barriere area. ... and about 15 minutes later! The main house and restaurant at Crystal Waters Resort. Ahh, yes! Just another small portion of God's country - commonly known as British Columbia. We don't let small obstacles like this deter us in our search for Nirvana. Another view of the problem! Aha - success comes to those who work for it! Yeah right - they probably don’t really mean it. Oops - I guess this time they did mean it. My saw wasn't big enough to tackle this one - time to retreat. Hmmmm, there's something wrong with this picture. (Don'o;t ask - $200.00 put them right again.) We ended up here with a view of a 'swamp', hoping to see a moose - didn't happen. Just a little more of a broad view of the previous photo and showing off our 'spiral staircase'. Yep - same place as the last two photos but this was the view in the opposite direction. The only problem with this situation was that; 1) we had no idea of where we were and, 2) that reddish tinge sure looked like forest fire smoke. Because of the area we were in we decided it would be wise to get out of there. We headed back toward 70 Mile House and found another suitable site in the wilderness. We stopped in Kamloops to get a new set of stairs and this was the view of one of the smallest fires as seen from the restaurant. No - we weren't looking for Christmas trees but this just happened to be a nice quiet spot to camp and star gaze (or do whatever else naturists like to do). A wild flower at the Christmas tree site. I don't know but it was at the same place as previous. ... and again, intermingled with a Christmas tree. Just a tree - but I thought it was neat. Our usual question to each other - 'Where do you think that road goes?' No, that road didn't lead here. This is Davis Lake located sort of between Merritt and Princeton. There are a lot of smallish lakes in that area. The other half of Davis Lake with the ATV access road shown between the two, which leads to lots of backcountry areas. No, that isn’t a diving platform! Another, more photogenic look at Davis Lake. A look at the marshy end of Davis Lake. Once again - Davis Lake and the camping spot we're in was obviously created for the folks who can't decide which lake they want to have a view of - that was us! Final shot - also of Davis Lake.
